Visiting Cinque Terre in 1 Day
Cinque Terre Holiday: Tips on How to Spend One Day in Cinque Terre.
One day is not enough to visit Cinque Terre. To truly experience Cinque Terre, you should plan for at least 2 days. Ideally, we recommend visiting Cinque Terre for 3 days.
Take a look at an example of a 2-day trip to Cinque Terre on the “Visit in Two Days (Trip Example)” page and decide what you can skip to see the park in 1 day. Visiting all five villages in one day can only be done in a hurry. We recommend selecting 3-4 villages depending on your interests.
Which Villages to Visit in Cinque Terre in 1 Day
Often, tourists skip the village of Corniglia, and depending on the open trails, Monterosso or Riomaggiore. We recommend walking at least one stretch of the Blue Trail. Visiting 3 villages in Cinque Terre in one day is doable! Of all the villages, Vernazza and Manarola are especially beautiful, although each village has its own unique charm. You can check out photos to see for yourself!
How to Organize a Visit to Cinque Terre in 1 Day
This depends on where you are starting your visit to Cinque Terre. If you're arriving by car, leave it in the parking lots in Levanto or La Spezia (more details on the “How to Get Here” page) and then take the train.
If you are coming by train from the south or east (Florence, Pisa, Rome, Venice, Parma), first you need to get to La Spezia and then switch to the local train (the train will take you to the first village, Riomaggiore, in just 7 minutes). If you are coming from the northern side (Milan, Genoa), the train usually stops in Monterosso, where you can get off without going all the way to La Spezia.
Tips for Visiting Cinque Terre in One Day
How to visit Cinque Terre in one day:
- Don't try to see all the villages; it can only be done in a rush!
- Due to limited time, it's better not to spend time on lunch and have a quick snack on the go. You can enjoy a leisurely dinner after sunset.
- If you're interested in visiting the famous Nessun Dorma bar, download the Nessun Dorma app in advance on your phone and join the online queue a couple of hours before your visit.
- We recommend getting the train schedule at any of the train stations or using the Trenitalia app.
- Read the main pages of our website!
- Consider purchasing the Cinque Terre Card for 19.50 euros (price changes based on the period of the season). This allows you to travel on the train for free, use the restrooms at the stations, and even if you don't want to hike the entire trail, you can take a short 100-meter / 300 feet walk near Vernazza to take beautiful photos, like the first one shown on this page.
Where to Leave Your Luggage in Cinque Terre
You can safely leave your luggage at the train station in La Spezia or in any of the villages. It is recommended to visit the tourist center located at each train station to get information about the nearest luggage storage facilities. They can guide you to the most convenient and accessible place where you can store your belongings and enjoy the freedom of exploring Cinque Terre.
Visiting Cinque Terre from a Cruise Ship
It's quite straightforward. As you disembark from the cruise ship, you'll immediately see the tourist office where you can purchase tickets. Special buses are available to take you to the train station, where you can board a train towards Cinque Terre. Most tourists start their journey from Riomaggiore, but we recommend not getting off at the first stop and starting your journey from any other village of your choice. Explore our website to learn how to make the most of your time during your port stop in La Spezia.
